Keto Air Fryer Salmon Parcels – 6g Carb Meal

Our Keto Air Fryer Salmon Parcels recipe is so quick and easy to make and is perfect for those following a low-carb lifestyle.

This dish is so refreshing for the summer months and is great for an evening meal as it does not take too much time to prepare or cook in an air fryer or oven.

Salmon is one of my favourite foods to cook and eat when following a Keto diet as it is quick to cook and super tasty.

Not only are there 0g of carbs in salmon, it’s great for your fat macros as it contains healthy Omega 3 fatty acids and is a fantastic protein kick as a 100g salmon fillet contains 20-25g of protein. Wild salmon has a slightly higher protein content.

This is alongside being packed with nutrients such as vitamins B12 and B6, alongside zinc, potassium, niacin, selenium and astaxanthin.

Whether you are looking to lead a healthier lifestyle or lose weight, salmon is one of the best foods to eat.

KETO AIR FRYER SALMON PARCELS INGREDIENTS

Ingredients for keto air fryer salmon recipe.

  • Boneless Salmon fillets, with skin on/off

  • Broccoli florets

  • Red bell pepper

  • Onion

  • Blackened seasoning (or you could use cajun seasoning)

  • Butter

  • Small amount of parsley or dill to sprinkle on salmon when cooked.

See the full Air Fryer Salmon recipe card for the quantities required.

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

Ensure your air fryer is pre-heated to 200°C (roughly 400°F) if your particular model needs it. I have the Ninja Foodi Max which does not require preheating, so am sure this would only add a few extra minutes onto the cooking time.

Lay two long sheets of tin foil flat on your worktop. Chop the broccoli into small florets, slice the onion and cut the red bell pepper into large chunks.

Place half of the broccoli, red pepper and onion into the centre of each tin foil sheet and sprinkle each with 1 tsp of the blackened seasoning.

Blackened seasoning vegetables.

After seasoning, your parcels should be taking shape and look like the image below.

Vegetables with seasoning on top.

Season each of the salmon fillets with the remaining blackened seasoning.

Once seasoned to your liking, carefully place each seasoned salmon fillet on top of the vegetables already on the tin foil.

Add ½ tbsp of butter to the top of each seasoned salmon fillet.

You are now ready to fold the two long ends of the foil up and roll them closed. Then roll up the sides of the foil to close, and form your salmon parcel.

Place both salmon and vegetable parcels into your air fryer and cook for 15 minutes at 200°C/400°F.

Then, open the parcels slightly and cook uncovered for a further 3-5 minutes to help crisp the top of the salmon fillets.

When fully cooked, carefully remove the tin foil parcels with the aid of a spatula and serve. Round the dish off by sprinkling a small amount of parsley or dill on top of the salmon.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

As mentioned above, I have a Ninja Foodi MAX Dual Zone Air Fryer AF400UK which I absolutely love an couldn’t recommend highly enough. The dual drawers make it so easy to cook different foods at the same time. This particular air fryer does not need to be pre-heated before cooking either.

If you do not have an air fryer, the parcels can easily be cooked in an oven, at the same temperature, though you may just need to cook the parcels ever so slightly longer.

  • Air fryer

  • Spatula

  • Tin foil

SALMON STORAGE

You can store cooked salmon in a fridge for 2-3 days if placed in a seal tight container. As the parcels also contain cooked vegetables and because this recipe is so delicious, I do not think there will be any left to store!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What types of salmon are keto friendly?

All types! From fillets, to canned salmon, to smoked salmon, all are great foods for anyone following a keto diet.

Is salmon high in carbs?

Salmon contains ZERO carbs! That’s right! There are 0g of carbohydrates in salmon. Making it a wonder food for Keto and low-carb lifestylers.

Does salmon stick to an air fryer?

Yes it will, which is why you do need to prep before cooking.

I always cook my salmon in tin foil as there is less mess when cooked, whether in an air fryer or oven. You can however lightly brush oil on the air fryer tray before resting your salmon fillets on top if you do not have tin foil to hand.

How long should salmon be cooked in an air fryer?

When I cook salmon fillets on their own, I usually have the tin foil uncovered and will cook for 13 minutes using the ‘Air Fry’ option on my Ninja Foodi, which is set at 200°C.

I find the top of the salmon crisps up perfectly, especially with some cracked black pepper on top.

The Keto Air Fryer Salmon Parcels recipe above also includes vegetables, so is cooked slightly longer, and is covered for the majority of the time to ensure the veggies are also properly cooked.

Oh, hubby would enjoy this, he loves salmon! I haven’t had any success with our countertop air fryer so I’ve given up using it. However, our new stove’s oven has an air fryer option. Maybe I’ll give it a try in it and see how it turns out. Thanks so much for linking up at the #UnlimitedLinkParty 116. Pinned.

    • I just bought a new oven and the next model up had an air fryer option, but there was no point unfortunately. That is a serious shame about your air fryer… does it need pre-heating first? The recipe can be oven cooked, it will just take a few extra minutes at the same temperature. Thank you for you having me and for pinning!x
